Founders & Investors: Eagle Private Equity has founded and developed several companies initially conceived of by its principals. Additionally, its principals have participated as investors or founders in more than a dozen early-stage opportunities.
Eagle Private Equity was founded as a vehicle to organize and expand the early-stage investment and company founding opportunities of its partners. Its principals have extensive careers in business and have directly founded or invested in dozens of early-stage opportunities. The following is a partial list of successful exits of several of these early-stage opportunities.
Eagle Senior Personnel
Eagle’s senior management were all entrepreneurs who collectively have participated in over 25 start-ups of new companies. Six of those becoming publicly traded and six acquired by major corporations. Prior exits include companies built by the senior management of Eagle that were sold to Apple, Caterpillar, Prime Media, Columbia HCA Healthcare, and American Tower. Our senior management has experience in industries as diverse as communication and computing to space and healthcare with a strong focus on pre-incorporation intellectual property in large markets. Eagle’s personnel founded or assisted in the founding of each of the following opportunities:
Computer Terminal – A software and computer hardware company. After growing it for a period of five years it was successfully sold to Caterpillar Tractor company, which had been the company’s largest client. Returns exceeded 10x founders’ capital.
Days Inn – Founded through a leveraged buyout, Days Inn was one of the nation’s original low-cost, nationally branded hotel chains. Days Inn was expanded from 350 properties to over 1,000, at which time the partners took Days Inn public. Returns exceeded 10x founders’ capital.
Telemundo – Founded to address this country’s rapidly increasing Hispanic population which could support a national Spanish-language TV network. Telemundo was formed by acquiring individual TV stations and then adjusting the programming to appeal to the Hispanic market. These stations formed the Telemundo Group which the partners took public. Returns exceeded 10x founders’ capital.
MedIntell – was founded to commercialize a solution introducing patient barcoding in U.S. hospitals for pharmacy distribution. The company was successfully sold to Value Health that was subsequently acquired by Columbia HCA. Returns exceeded 10x founders’ capital.
Blake Towers – was a cellular phone service tower builder. Realizing that there could be a consolidation of the Radio-TV tower industry, Mike Blake led the expansion of the company to acquire East Coast mountaintop and rooftop towers. The company was sold to American Tower Corp. Returns exceeded 10x founders’ capital.
Internet Gift Registries – was a founder and early innovator in the online bridal registry and gift registry. Partnered with Modern Bride, it was a leader in the early event registration and online related services. Providing everything from online wedding planning software to a multi-store gift registry, the company was sold to PriMedia (Modern Brides parent company) which later merged it into the Knot Bridal site. Returns exceeded 10x founders’ capital.
EdView, Inc./Net Selector – was a Cloud-based company founded to make education internet surfing safer in US schools. Amongst its many accomplishments, its client software shipped on the original iMac from Apple. The technology that the company pioneered created a safe environment within the Internet and provided safe access to hundreds of thousands of teacher-selected age-appropriate web sites. The company grew to be a leader in this field and was acquired by Apple Computer. Returns exceeded 10x founders’ capital.
